    The Blind Man. Sermon Text: Luke This sermon is from the Lord’s Day pulpit ministry of R.C. Sproul at Saint Andrew’s Chapel near Orlando Florida. Or, “Lord, take care of my needs.” Jesus was very pointed in his question to the blind man. He wanted a specific answer. Perhaps we are too busy or distracted to even listen to Jesus ask us what we want Him to do. He is God, and already knows before we ask (Matthew ). But Jesus didn’t heal the blind man until he answered the question.

      Busy man, working man, preaching man, leading man, people-person Jesus. But then a different profile: “As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth” (John ). Day after day, the man sits and begs (John ) — a man without pretense, without schedule, without plans, without friends, without respect, without money, with no reason to. Then, under further questioning, he confesses that what Jesus had done shows that He is “from God” (v). Finally, when Jesus finds him, the former blind man confesses Him as “The Son of Man” (v), a title only used for the Messiah. Paradoxically, as the blindman receives both physical and spiritual sight, the Pharisees seem to go blind.
